Thursday and Friday is no school for parent teacher conferences.  Check the backpack today for an envelope for conferences.  Please be on time as my schedule is pretty full and a late meeting can have a ripple effect :) However, I do have some bookings available if you have not had a chance to book yet.

We continued our work on our virtue, self reflection.  Today we watched a sweet video (linked below), talked about trying out best and answered the question, Where is a place you feel happy?

The Reflection in me

The grade 3s are involved in a social action project attempting to adopt an orphaned elephant from Kenya. They are selling bookmarks for $1. The book sale will be on March 18/19.  If you would like to send $1 in ahead of time I will hold them and keep a list of students.
From the Grade Three Teachers

Our kids have been working hard learning about the significance of the elephant in the Indian and African cultures. Our students have learned how important elephants are to the environments in which they reside, the ways in which elephants are used, such as logging, ceremonial celebrations and their spiritual significance. Students have also been learning how laws surrounding animal rights continually change. Part of our social studies curriculum in grade three is to practice what it means to be a global citizen. We have had many discussions about how we can make a difference in the world without physically being there and students have learned that elephants are an endangered keystone species.
