 We want to wish Brayden the Happiest 5th Birthday!

Today was a big day! We began working on the letter Ss! We want to be able to identify the upper and lowercase letter, attempt printing (starting at the top of the letter), be able to say the sound and recognize some words that start with the letter. Today we practiced using our magic fingers to air print the word, acted out being a snake, sang the song and practiced printing with a pencil.  I love when students begin to find authentic ways to connect to the lesson.  Today they began to find the letter S around the room and in everyday activities.

"My sandwich starts with S, oh and snack too!"

"Hey look, Marwan's mask has an S on it"

Here is our song: Letter S song

Check the backpack for a package of work completed by your child! Some of the tasks we have been working on since the beginning of September.

* I can print my name with correct upper and lowercase letters (either independently or with an example)

* I can hold my pencil using a mature grasp

* I can copy shapes

* I can draw a recognizable person with body parts

* I can stay in the lines when colouring

* I can cut simple shapes

Housekeeping

* Please make sure you have logged in to Google Classroom.  We will be starting a new round of Top Banana next week (tentatively)

* Make sure children come dressed for the weather.  We go outside daily.  It's a great idea to keep little gloves/toques tucked in the backpack for those cold mornings.

* With the cool weather brings coats and jackets and tricky zippers.  These can cause frustration.  We are working towards independence in this area and need your help.  Have your children practice at home and zip zippers themselves.  I always ask them to try first on their own and watch how they are trying so I can guide them to try again with a new strategy.

We are asking for pumpkin donations! Big, small, teeny, orange, green, lumpy, bumpy! Any and all of the above!

If you are able to donate a pumpkin to our class we would be so appreciative.  Send them in with your child this week or early next week!

Thank you for your support :)
