 Heart to Belong

To kick off Indigenous Education week, we linking out holistic learning everyday throughout the week leading up to our Truth and Reconciliation assembly on September 29th.  On this day, all children as asked to wear an orange shirt. New Brighton is asking, What is something you can do? Kindergarten has been given the challenge to display how we have a heart to belong in New Brighton.  We have decided to share our challenge with parents during this conference time.  Every grade has a planter box outside the front of the school.  We will be giving you the opportunity to plant a few bulbs, if you choose, during conferences in our kindergarten box.  This week, the students were shown which garden belongs to us and each class planted one bulb and added some kindergarten magic and love.  We can't wait to welcome our tulips in the Spring to share with the New Brighton community and let everyone know we all belong.

Today we continued to practice printing our names the kindergarten way (Uppercase followed by lowercase) using our name cards with a learning job we called, write your name SO many times. When your child is printing their name encourage them to do this as well.

Please remember that there is no school for kindergarten Thursday or Friday.  I look forward to meeting and sharing with you at conferences.
