Valentine's Day
While Mrs. Hughes and Ms. Russell LOVE treats like cupcakes and cookies, we are not allowed to hand out treats to students. This is a good time to remind you of our severe EGG and CASHEW allergy in our classroom. Thank you for always being mindful when you pack snacks to help keep us all safe!
Can you believe we’re already preparing for Valentine’s Day?!? We will be celebrating and having some fun on Feb 14.
So, what do you need to know?
- On Feb 14 come dressed in Valentine’s Day Colours (red, pink, purple, white, love/heart themed etc)
- If you choose to participate we will be distributing Valentine’s Day cards during class time.
- Students can distribute Valentine's Day cards. If you choose to participate, please make sure to send 22 cards so that everyone gets one.
- Please do not address them to individual students, instead,
TO: MY FRIEND
FROM: STUDENT NAME (Great time to practice name writing)
Wednesday is Orange shirt day
Have a great weekend, see you Monday!
Today we learned all about he letter Bb. Did you know that our plan is to be complete the whole alphabet by Spring Break. Students should be able to identify each letter (upper and lowercase) the sound, print the letter and begin to use it in their writing. Developing a fluency with letter knowledge is so very helpful for beginning reading and writing as well as a seamless transition to grade one.
Here are some ideas for inspiration
Volunteers
I am trying out Sign Up Genius for Home Reading volunteers. The volunteer will help record signed out and returned books and will read/preview the book with each student. Volunteers must have a current CBE clearance in order to volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering but do not have your clearance please contact the office and they can let you know the steps to take.
