If you order from the flyer, please use my classroom code RC189125

Today we asked, What is it? There was something new in the classroom.  We got a couple clues and then we took a guess of what it might be and recorded that in our visual journal page.

It's hard to see but there is an egg sac in there.
Here are some ideas students had

Can you read these words? This is kindergarten writing these days, recording dominate letter sounds.  Now that we have learned all the letters kindergarten writing should look something like this.  We spent some time stretching out words.  Students are coming home with a package that includes a practice sounding out page, take a look at how your child is sounding out!

We are in the last week of our Responsibilities Top Banana and will be moving on to Favourite Landscape/Outdoor space next week. Please send those in right away as I would like to have them all organized before we begin. See the bottom of this page for the write up.

I shared my example today.

1. My old backyard
2. I loved spending time in my backyard filled with gardens of beautiful food, plants, flowers and bees. My family and I all worked together to build this space.
3. Watching the bees, picking tomatoes and raspberries and watching my kids explore

Favourite Landscape/Outdoor Space

Students are asked to share a photo of a landscape/outdoor space that is special to them. It needs to be a place they feel connected to and is part of nature. It could be their backyard, a field or playground they play at, a campground/cabin/vacation spot.

Questions to prepare for Top Banana share:

  1. Where is this place?
  2. Why is it special for you?
  3. What are some of your favourite things to do in this space?
Things to note
  • Please send Mrs. Hughes with a photo by April 11th
  • The current round is not yet complete, so if your child has not had a chance to share their responsibility, they will in the coming weeks.
  • There is only 1 Top Banana each day, so it takes over a month to go through everyone.  Students are chosen at random from photos submitted
  • Every student gets a chance each round.  No one is ever left out, however if a photo is not submitted, they will go at the end
