Kindergarten writing is on a roll. What does kindergarten writing look like in November? A student will think about something they want to write and give it a try. Students are encouraged to use the letters they know, experiment with sounds and be happy to make mistakes! Mistakes are where all the learning happens. They might write words they are familiar with, often /mom/dad/mommy/dog/love. They might look around the room and copy words or they might write random strings of letters. We are working towards recording the first letter and using any letters/sounds we have be practicing in class. So far we have worked with letters S/A/T/I/P and the letters in each of their names. All attempts are celebrated!
So in the student intended to write, I like puppies, it could come out several ways. sdkjfh asd dcc. morning meeting lego. mom dad michlle. Ilikpupees. I wic pippees. You get the idea ;)
At home encourage them to use the sounds they know and make mistakes along the way!
Today we finished the sentence, Peace is _______. Here is a picture of our the art we created. I just love how they are all different and unique.
