Our affirmation of the day
We spent some time talking about the expectations for our journals today. Can you tell what the criteria is? We examined some samples of work and shared a compliment and an area for growth. I'm so impressed with how well they are doing in their journals and how they can explain the expectations. The topic today was free choice!

Hide them behind your back and divide them
Show some and say, "How many are missing?" (still hidden behind the back)

Start with a specific number of counters. Drop them. How many in and how many out? Show on fingers and use your math talk, "4 and 2 make 6"
