Today we started the day in our discovery/investigations books. This was free choice but the invitation for ideas was our new insects (caterpillars) on our desks as well as a video stream of the duck! Here is what they came up with :)
We had a great discussion about the caterpillars
What do we know about caterpillars?
* It walks upside down like the praying mantis
* They are squirmy like a snake
* They could be found in your backyard
* They climb on trees
* You can find them when camping
* They could get eaten by birds
* They turn into butterflies
* Some eat leaves
* They are small and they grow bigger
What do we want to know or wonder about?
* How big do they get?
* Do they eat a mix of food? What do they eat?
* How do they walk upside down?
* I want to know cocoon?
* Where do their wings come from?
* How do they get their cocoons off
* Do caterpillars and butterflies eat the same or different food?
* Do the caterpillars have babies?
* Where do they come from? The eggs? How are they born?
* Do they eat human foods and drinks?
* How they eat?
* What about nectar?
AND we started the challenges for the AMAZING RACE and the PM class earned us our first 25 points!
